If you haven’t heard of Aaron Crawford, he is an up-and-coming country artist. I became introduced to the band thru their lead guitarist, the one and only, Leif Andersen. You see, Leif and I grew up together. He is a few years older than I am, and was my youth leader at church. For the next 5 years, I spent much of my free time with Leif and his family at the church and their home. I could sit here and write out stories for hours, but I won’t torture you. Leif has been playing music since long before I met him. My first experience going to Seattle late at night to see a concert was a band that he played in at the time, Common Heroes. I was 16 years old, my mind was blown seeing live rock music being played on stage at a crappy venue. When I was 22 years old, I moved away and lost touch with Leif and his family.
I spent many teenage years attending concerts all over the PNW, following Leif and the many projects that he has been involved in throughout the years. I carried my camera with me to every one of these concerts, and over the years honed my skills in low light photography and event coverage.
A few years ago, out of the blue, Leif just so happened to rent the house behind mine out in Buckley. History repeats itself, and I have been following him to concerts yet again. I have seen Leif play with Aaron Crawford at many cool events. One of my personal favorites was the Whiskey Rocks event that they played at Safeco Field. It doesn’t get much better than country music and whiskey at the ball field, this is America after all.
For the release of his latest album, Hotel Bible, Aaron Crawford had the event at Steel Creek in Tacoma. For those of you unfamiliar with his music, you can check it out on iTunes. He writes great original country songs, has a fantastic voice, and always puts on a fun show. The first time I ever heard Aaron sing, he was doing a cover of Fishin in the Dark by the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band and I was hooked. He performs a multitude of great cover songs during his shows. The crowd always goes wild when Aaron covers Blank Space by Taylor Swift. Check out his CD and let me know what you think.
